Long delayed AGM -7th October in the Village Hall -The important topic of moving to a more business like constitution 'Charitable Incorporated Organisatio' (CIO) was, as decided at a previous Special General Meeting Meeting, discussed further in order to move the issue on to actual registration. The AGM made it clear that members were happy to see the committee to now to take the necessary steps to achieve that aim of becoming a CIO; we would/will eventually be renamed The East Cowton Village Hall Association.
The meeting voted in 2 new committee members: Yvonne Jolly and Colin Fitzpatrick. Longtime member, Barbara Hibbert was voted in to fill the vacancy of Secretary left by the departure of longtime member Peter Ball. Along with Peter Ball, detailed, appreciative accounts of 2 other longtime members were made - Lynn Fyffe and Pauline Ayre. Pauline's Village Hall connections go back to the very beginning of the ECNVHA in 1996 - and beyond when she was a member of the original V Hall Management committee. Best wishes go to these longtime members who have contributed so much to the Village Hall -and to moves towards the target to build a new hall - which is still much to the forefront of the committee's work.
GOOD News! September2021 The Pop-Up Cafe has returned! But to ensure it can continue , volunteers required to help out on a rota basis. Please contact Barbara Hibbert 07841 646899
Fridays 2pm -4pm. Watch out for any changes on noticeboard.
Restrictions have been relaxed. However we politely ask Hall users to remain cautious. Certainly wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. Please continue sanitising Hands (sanitising gels etc continue to be available in the Hall) - ALSO , if using any equipment please sanitise that at the end of a session e.g. chairs & tables (sprays available as before) - and if toilets are used after a group booking please sanitise obvious 'touch points' at end of session. Thanks everyone!
//// It was with great sadness and shock that, the weekend beginning the 15th May, we received the sudden and unexpected news that our friend and committee member PAM RICHMOND had passed away.
Pam was a longtime valued member of the committee having joined in the early days (1999)./////
Meetings: of course have been suspended for a long time due to pandemic but Hopefully the gradually improving situation with the successful vaccination programme will allow us to think about meetings sometime around mid summer(?) - especially the much delayed AGM and the take up of the improved constitution that was discussed at a Special General Meeting back in 2019(!). We have also been advertising that we need to build up the committee numbers and to that end we have received interest from 2 villagers and an AGM is needed to progress that properly.
We have just learnt that a committee member will soon be leaving the Village so the need for FURTHER new members is becoming critical - FOR THE FUTURE SUCCESS OF THE HALL!! (22nd July 2021)
*Many Thanks to Fred & Betty Thistlethwaite for providing and planting the flowers in boxes in front of the Hall ** ** ** ** **
*Light Ahead! Officially organised indoor group exercise activities allowed to return, with restricted attendances from 17th May 2021. At moment, Pilates had indicated its intended return at that time and indeed it did return (restricted numbers etc) on the 17th May. The U3A activities, Tai Chi , Bowls, Mahjong -are likely to be returning shortly afterwards. see Bookings section for updates.
Lockdown RETURNS! (5thJan2021) so the restarted Pilates suspended; all other usual activities continue to be suspended
*But.. THE POP-UP POST OFFICE CONTINUES on Friday afternoons . Please note that the *FOOD BANK continues in its usual place in the Hall and can be accessed for contributions on Friday afternoons whilst the Post Office is in action
Memo: Our Secretary, Peter Ball, has left East Cowton & also therefore the post of Secretary. In the interim until an AGM(or SGM) is held (hopefully early in 2021) -Stuart Barker(Chair), with help from committee members will act as Secretary. Grateful thanks go to Peter for the hard work he did as Secretary and in lots of other ways to help the committee move forward . Peter was Secretary from 2016 but also was a longtime reliable member of the committee from its conception in 1996.

SITTING COMFORTABLY - SPONSOR A CHAIR . The New Chairs are now in use. Would be great if as many folks as possible could sponsor a chair! (at £25 chair). This will help contribute towards a fund 'matching element' within the grant which we have now received. A grant was received from'MAD'(Hambleton, 'Making A Difference') to help towards new chairs linked with improved storage. Alongside the grant we also have to contribute towards the cost of the whole package. The storage solution is a racking trolley system to store some chairs under the stage. You can fill in the sponsorship list displayed inside the hall or otherwise contact Stuart on 07855250107
e-mail: [email protected] (or any committee member). Cash or Cheques -please make cheques out to ECNVHA. Thank you! Eventually a framed list of sponsors will be permanently displayed in the hall. Of course due to the current situation the fulfilment of this project is going to be delayed - but we'll get there!
